Hi Gigi!
Love your site! It's great to be helping others in recovery find their paths.

I have a new book coming out on Amazon on August 12th. It is called Loved Back to Life and it's about my journey of recovery. I have been clean and sober for 20 years now.

It would be great if you could read the book and blog about it on your site...if you believe it to be beneficial to others in recovery.

I can forward a PDF of the manuscript if you are interested. You can find out more info at www.lovedbacktolife.com

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Smiles,
Amy "AJ" Crowell amy@amycrowell.net

Your idea was an excellent one. Don't be discouraged by one instance of bureaucratic and narrow thinking.

This morning I called our local AA interpol group, with what I thought was a generous and great idea. I believe that there are many roads to a goal, and I offered to publish for free, any information they may have which could help bring a person closer to sobriety. Unfortunately, I was told that our local AA leaders DO NOT WANT TO SHARE ANY INFORMATION. They do not want "outsiders" promoting them for "fear of misinformation". Honestly! It was at an AA meeting that I first heard this wisdom: " it doesn't matter HOW you get there-(sober)-it only matters that you DO get there". When I suggested that more people could be reached and potentially helped (marketing 101) if the information was widely available, I could smell the person's fear over the phone. I felt uncomfortable, as though I was wearing a tight cheap suit. This organization still doesn't work for me and I still don't believe in "tough love".

I felt shut-out by this closed door, but this time it wasn't hurtful. All the rational I heard was archaic, fear-based and totally controlling. It only reminded me why I do not participate. However, because not everyone is the same, and we all need our own way to "get there", their contacts WILL be listed here in addition anything else that may provide a way.

The person on the other end of the phone simply wouldn't hear it. But I will. If this type of controlling addictive programming works for you, and helps you to live a fulfilling life, then that is what really matters. Therefore, their information is here.

There are plenty of wellness, holistic and alternative programs here on Cape Cod and the Islands. Often the fees are adjustable and very accommodating. These, I highly recommend.

Thank you so much for your question!
I totally understand. Generally, try being impartial, as judgment is restrictive, like resistance. Let whatever you experience during your meditation happen and be "ok". Be there, unattached, witnessing the free-flow and the energy within the thoughts. Let it all be okay, while at the same time letting it all go. The key is not to resist anything, and try not to identify with your thoughts. If you do, let them go when you find yourself doing that. I don't think Ego is capable of meditating, so definitely do not attempt to meditate from there. Specifically, keep noting the thought and releasing the thought. Even if you only get a glimpse of where you want to be, with practice, those moments will increase. As far as the CD's go, why not try starting with one, get into the "zone" and then turn off the volume. It could be, you just need to give yourself more time to used to the different way.
Good luck and happy healing,

Hey everyone. I'm really interested in learning more about meditation. I just read James Ray's book Harmonic Wealth and have been practicing his four categories of meditation: Focusing/Visualization, Listening/Watching, Static Transcendence, and Mobile Transcendence. He lists a bunch of ways to access each category in his book (page 309), but I'm still having some issues. I have listened to some meditation DVDs in the past and have been able to get into that space pretty easily, but I'm having a much harder time focusing in on my own. Any tips for how to tune in without the help of an audio track?
I plan on attending Quantum Leap in the fall, so hopefully he'll teach me some more techniques there, but I'd really like to keep meditating before then and make some progress. If you are interested, check out his website: www.jamesray.com or www.harmonicwealth.com.
